OUR PROCESS OF AWAKENING

All cultures and traditions throughout recorded history speak of a process of awakening, enlightenment, or union with the Divine—a return to the “natural state” of the human being—where the heart is open, where there is an immense feeling of connection with others and the natural world, and where we are able to perceive reality as it is, without the conditioned filters and unceasing interpretations of the ancient mind.

What we have seen, not unlike many ancient cultures and civilizations, is that there exists a dormant spiritual energy within the human being which, when activated, catalyzes the awakening process. In the Indian tradition, this energy is known as the kundalini. The kundalini is seen to travel through various energy centers within the subtle body of each human being. While referred to by a variety of names cross-culturally, these focused centers of energy are referred to in India as the chakras or the chakra system.

This process of awakening the human being to its natural state involves the activation of this kundalini-- this spiritual energy-- as well as a balancing of the various energy centers in the subtle body. When the kundalini is activated and the chakras are balanced, we return to a very ordinary, simple, yet extremely profound relationship with life. Our senses are open and functioning clearly, our heart is open and we feel so connected with others, and we find ourselves in a natural and beautiful relationship with what we might call the Divine, God, or with the higher Self or intelligence of the Universe. We have a deep and profound sense of trust in life, we are comfortable with ourselves and others, and are finally living as opposed to merely existing.

As a result of this beautiful condition, we naturally and effortlessly affect those around us—helping them to flower in their lives according to their own unique expression.

In this section you will learn about the various ancient tools that we utilize in our courses and programs to help a person grow, heal, and awaken into higher states of consciousness.

DEEKSHA / ONENESS BLESSING

The main tool we use to help with spiritual growth is what we call “Deeksha” (also known as the Oneness Blessing). Deeksha is an ancient word derived from the Sanskrit language that refers to a “benediction” or a “gift”, or having to do with the notion of “transfer”—in short, the receipt of a gift from the Divine, from God, from the Higher Self, which fuels the awakening process. Deeksha is a Blessing from the Divine that works to activate the kundalini, balance the chakras, and serves to intelligently guide the recipient on an individual, unique journey into higher states of consciousness, and ultimately into the state of Oneness itself.

In our Courses, participants receive a series of teachings, are taken through personal processes, and learn powerful and ancient forms of prayer and meditation. It is the Deeksha, however, that is necessary to bring these revelations alive in the personal experience of participants. It has been said in many spiritual traditions that it is not possible to awaken merely as a result of one’s own efforts. But rather some form of divine intervention is needed; some form of help is required to take this journey. The Deeksha is simply the Divine reaching out to humanity, offering the assistance that is required for the awakening process to complete itself.

In short, Deeksha is the transfer of a physical energy, which affects a neurobiological shift, thereby initiating a process where the Divine guides the recipient on an individual journey into awakening into Oneness. Deeksha creates a shift in the brain, deactivating the energy in certain areas of the brain while increasing energy in others, which results in a diminishing of the feeling we all have of separation. As other areas of the brain are activated, we find ourselves able to truly experience reality, through the senses—to actually taste a banana, to see our spouse for how he or she is, to hear the sound of our child crying. A whole new world opens to us where we are in direct contact with reality, as it is, without being carried away by the never ending chatter of the mind, its evaluations and interpretations.

It is an ancient understanding that higher states of consciousness of an awakened being can actually be transferred to another, through a specific initiatory process. We in Oneness utilize this ancient understanding by way of the Deekshas to help you grow and heal. These states are transferred to participants, through the Deekshas, who are able to then have a direct and personal experience of these higher qualities of love, unity, joy, silence, and Oneness.

Similarly, the Founders of the Oneness University also meditate with Course participants, transferring the Deeksha to help them move into these higher states by awakening their body’s natural energies, the kundalini and chakras. It has been demonstrated in spiritual traditions around the world that being in the presence of another who is living in the reality of Oneness or love or grace is a powerful way to begin to touch these experiences in our own lives in a deeply personal way.

ANCIENT MEDITATIONS

The ancient art of meditation has been utilized in all world wisdom traditions as a vehicle for communing with the Divine and to open to the natural state of the human being—to see who and what we are and to rest in our natural condition. Some forms of meditation are concentrative in nature, focusing on the breath or other object to bring one’s attention to a single point. Other forms are based in resting in the nature of the mind or awareness, while still others are more devotional in nature.

We at Oneness have designed a specific series of meditation practices for course participants which have their roots in the ancient wisdom traditions of our planet—they are in essence thousands of years old, having been passed down from master to student throughout the ages.

While we offer a variety of meditative practices and experiences, our goal is simply to help you to grow spiritually, to open your heart, to touch deep states of stillness and peace, and ultimately to awaken into Oneness with all of life. Specifically, we offer ancient and powerful techniques which are designed to prepare both the physical and subtle body to receive the Deeksha as well as to be the clearest instrument possible for the Divine energies to flow through.

We offer a myriad of yoga-based meditation practices, including those working directly with the subtle breath within the human being, the prana. By learning to work consciously with the breath, we are able to cultivate states of concentration and awareness, stillness, and direct connection with our own bodies and minds. By learning to deeply relax and rest in the present moment, we are able to be there fully for ourselves and others, and begin to feel the connection and interdependence we share with all beings.

In particular, we offer a specific form of meditation that has been practiced for thousands of years by those desiring direct communion with the Divine and those wishing to enter into states of higher consciousness such as causeless joy, infinite love, and the endless bliss of Being itself. Called Chakra Dhyana, this ancient meditation practice involves the awakening of the kundalini and the balancing of the chakras, the energy centers within the human being.

The kundalini, the spiritual life energy, is a cross-cultural phenomenon experienced by spiritual adepts of many ancient cultures and traditions. It is said to reside in the subtle body of the human being and travels upward from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. The kundalini flows through what are known as the nadis, pathways of subtle energy which carry the kundalini upward, resulting in full awakening upon completion.

While having its roots in ancient India, the chakra-based meditation practices we teach are universal in nature, simple to learn and practice, and applicable to practitioners of any faith. The practices serve as a natural complement to other forms for prayer and meditation and provide a powerful support to the awakening process and the transfer of the Oneness Deeksha.

ANCIENT SACRED CHANTS AND RITUALS

From time immemorial, human beings have reached out to the Divine in devotion to connect with the higher intelligence which governs this universe. Whether it be through dance, art, song, or ceremony, thousands of ways have been revealed which serve to link up the human and the Divine. We in Oneness recognize the power of ritual as a universal technology to open to the unseen world as a way of awakening into Oneness and helping our fellow human beings to find true happiness and meaning in their lives.

As such, we offer a number of devotional practices and ancient rituals to help you to access Divine energies and to receive the Deeksha in the deepest way possible. All of the rituals we conduct are universal in nature and are rooted in traditions which are thousands of years old—powerful pathways to connect with the divine and to offer devotion and gratitude to the Divinity that surrounds us all.

One of the most ancient ways of reaching out to the Divine is through the use of the world’s oldest musical instrument—the human voice. Every ancient culture and world wisdom tradition has some way of calling out to the sacred, chanting to the higher intelligence, and using the voice to harness energy and invoke Divine grace. The purpose of this sacred chanting is simple—it is to help to cultivate healing and awakening in the human being.

According to the Vedic tradition of India, the universe was birthed from pure sound. This symphony of vibrational energy continues to unfold at this moment, creating everything that we hear, see, and touch. The power of chanting (and the sacred syllables that are chanted, mantras) comes not from the meaning of the mantras, but from their direct vibrational effect on our body's physiological and energetic systems. Sanskrit, the language chanted as part of our processes, is an energy-based language, and mantras are spiritual formulas for working with this energy. They are designed to eliminate obstacles as we progress spiritually, and to help us make energetic progress toward Oneness.

The chants that we utilize at the Oneness University are used to support our journey of awakening into Oneness and have been used in India for thousands of years. They are universal calls out to the Divine that transcend cultures and religions and serve only to open us to the Divine within. Just listening to these chants is said to open a doorway between you and the Divine, a simple and powerful technology to open you to the sacred dimension of all life.

ONENESS DEESKHA/BLESSING EVENTS

These informal events will serve as a gateway for those new to Oneness to learn about the teachings of Sri Amma Bhagavan and to experience Deeksha or the Oneness Blessing. Additionally, they offer an opportunity for current Deeksha Givers to come together, give and receive Deekshas, and to share experiences with one another. Oneness Blessing Events may be facilitated by any Blessing Giver or Oneness Trainer and are open to the public. Those who are inspired by these Events and would like to go deeper into the work may then take the Oneness Awakening Course.

These Oneness Events are conducted uniquely by each Oneness Blessing Giver or Oneness Trainer in what ever way they feel moved to share the Blessing and teachings of Oneness with their communities. Oneness Blessing Events usually consist of a small intro about the Oneness Phenomenon, some teachings from Oneness University, meditations, and then the Oneness Blessing. Afterwards there could be a sharing of experiences and questions and answers. These events tend to be a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly event that lasts generally around 1-3 hours.  However, it is completely up to each Blessing Giver and/or Oneness Trainer.
